Step 1: View Locations in a Warehouse
Navigate to Manage > Locations in the Luminous menu.
Select the warehouse you want to manage (e.g., "Main Warehouse" or "Cold Storage").
The system will display all existing locations (bins) within the selected warehouse.
Step 2: Add a New Location
Click Add New Location.
Fill out the following fields:
Location Name: Enter the name or identifier for the bin (e.g., "Location 8123").
Picking Location (Optional):
Mark this location as a Picking Location if you use auto-deplete for inventory (e.g., auto-deducting inventory when labels are printed through ShipStation or Shopify).
Important: Ensure that each SKU has only one assigned picking location to avoid inventory discrepancies.
Click Submit to save the new location.
Step 3: Edit or Manage Locations
Click the three dots next to a location to:
Edit: Update location details.
Delete: Remove the location.
Set as Default: Mark the location as the default for shipping or receiving.
For bulk actions:
Select multiple locations using the checkboxes.
Use the bulk action menu to:
Mark locations as picking locations.
Delete multiple locations at once.
Step 4: Bulk Import Warehouse Locations
Go to Tools > Imports in the menu.
Select Import Warehouse Locations.
Follow these steps to import locations in bulk:
Download Template: Click to download the Excel template.
Fill Out the Template: Enter the location names in the template file.
Select Warehouse: Choose the warehouse where these locations will be imported.
Upload File: Import the completed Excel file back into Luminous.
Step 5: Establish a Clear Naming Convention
When creating locations, follow a consistent naming convention to ensure clarity for warehouse workers.
Use names that align with the layout of your warehouse and make it easier for workers to locate inventory during picking and packing.
