SOP: Why Regular Inventory Counts Still Matter

Actions your warehouse manager/workers should be taking to make sure you have inventory counts correct.

Written by Heidi Hatch

While using an inventory management system, it is still important to verify accuracy every once in a while. We suggest doing the occasional soft count (maybe once a week) to get a good estimate of inventory numbers. This helps ensure that product quantities are in a the correct range.

We also recommend doing a hard count monthly or every other month (depending on size of warehouse). A hard count is physically counting each inventory item in the warehouse. This may take some time but it is well worth the warehouse manager/team's time to ensure accuracy.
