What?
Unit of Measure allows you to be able to define different units for different functions of the business. The concept is simple: you set your baseline unit of measure (EA, ML, FT, Yards, etc.) and then you designate a multiple and a name from the base unit. For example, your baseline could be FT which would mean 1 ft is the baseline. Then, you could set a 10x multiple on this (10 ft) and call it a bundle. You can do as many multiples and names as needed and designate your purchasing unit as one multiple and your selling unit as another.
Another common use-case is doing the baseline as EA (this is the default), then doing multiples for an inner carton and then another multiple for a master carton (you could even do a pallet).
Why?
Unit of measure helps organize purchasing and selling units within Luminous.
