Overview
A new Sales Purgatory setting allows teams to skip importing orders based on a cutoff date. This prevents older orders from being pulled into Luminous, even if they are later updated in a connected third-party system. This is especially helpful for keeping historical or irrelevant orders out of the workflow.
Once enabled, any order with an order date on or before the selected cutoff date will be completely dropped and will not be saved to Luminous.
Important: This setting only applies to new orders coming in after it is enabled. Existing orders in Luminous are not affected.
When to Use This Setting
This setting is useful when:
A large number of legacy orders exist in an external system
Old orders are being re-sent due to minor updates or sync behavior
Only recent, actionable orders should be processed in Luminous
How the Cutoff Date Setting Works
Orders with an order date on or before the cutoff date are fully ignored
Ignored orders are not saved to Luminous
Updates to old orders in a third-party system will not trigger a re-import
This behavior is different from skipping inventory, which still saves the order
How to Enable Skip Orders by Cutoff Date
Navigate to Shipping - Purgatory -
- Settings
Locate Skip Orders Older Than Specified Date
Check the box to enable the setting
Select a Cutoff Date using the date picker
Save the changes
Orders with an order date on or before the selected date will no longer be imported into Luminous.
Difference Between Cutoff Date and Other Skip Settings
Setting | What Happens to the Order | Inventory Impact |
Skip Inventory for Orders Older Than X Days | Order is saved | Inventory is skipped |
Skip Orders Older Than Specified Date | Order is dropped entirely | No inventory allocation |
